Mongolia is a land-locked country in Central Asia and East Asia, located between China and Russia. The total land area of Mongolia is over 1.5 million square kilometers. Given the total population size of roughly 3 million Mongolia is one of the largest countries in the world in terms of land per capita (about 500 sq.m. per resident). The average elevation of the country is 1,580 m. The capital of Mongolia is Ulaanbaatar with a population of 1.45 million (2017 census). Ulaanbaatar is the political, economic, cultural and social hub of the country. It is home to over 670 public and 147 independent schools for elementary, secondary and high education. Logarithm is K-12 independent school, with 700 enrolled students from 1-12th grade. The school opened in the fall of 2008 and graduated its first senior class in spring of 2019. It serves middle-income families in Ulaanbaatar city and delivers national curriculum in compliance with The Education law of Mongolia. The school offers 1-5 Primary, 6-9 Secondary and 10-12 High school program.
In 2018, the school received an awarded as a Best school of Sukhbaatar district, the district is home to country’s most competitive 60 public and private schools. In 2019 the school was awarded the Top 20 Private schools award by an independent study under the auspices of the Ministry of Education throughout the country. The school within its context enhances the national curriculum by 30% which makes the teaching more rigorous. In addition to enhanced national curriculum, the school itself expands the program with electives in Foreign languages since 6th grade, Honor classes in STEM from 10th grade and other elective classes specific to school. Logarithm along with academic subjects and activities bring experiential learning into classrooms, run numerous personal development programs, sports and community clubs. One of the most prominent programs, which has great impact on students’ personal development is classes by Personal Coach since 9th grade and Summer life skill camp that help herder community starts from 8th grade. The school year has 4 quarters and class runs from 40 to 60 mins.
